The Teaching Ministry of the Church
"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of
bread, and in prayers." Acts 2:42
"Doctrine is, quite literally, the teaching of the church -- what the church understands to be the substance of its faith...Some churches seem to think that doctrine is a concern for those of a certain intellectual bent, but unnecessary for most Christians. Interest in doctrine amounts to something like an intellectual hobby. Others steer clear of doctrine for fear of argument or division in the church. Both factors indicate a lack of respect for the Christian believer and an abdication of the teaching function of the church."

Does your church take seriously its teaching responsibility? Is discipleship given as high a priority as evangelism? Does your church leadership have a passion for uniting the teaching ministries of the church and home? If so, we have many families and homeschooling pastors looking for such a fellowship! The Teaching Ministry of the Home
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck." - Proverbs 1:7-9
"Whether you know it or not, your thinking about education, by cultural default, is already conformed to the world. Public education is all we have known as a generation, so it has become the default standard by which we reflexively evaluate 'education'. But God commands you to be transformed by renewing your mind with His truth so you can think like He thinks. He doesn't want us thinking about anything by default. And that includes our thinking about parenting and education."
- Clay and Sally Clarkson of Whole Heart Ministries
Uniting Them
Now this is the commandment, which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them…so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments, and that your days may be prolonged…And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might…And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart...and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
"From Deuteronomy 6 we learn that all parents "home educate. While some parents
homeschool, all parents, even all members of God’s household, "home educate!" By itself this
maxim is a dramatic tool for building unity and leaders within God’s household. Many
household leaders do not see themselves as educators of their children because the word
education has been redefined by our culture to describe a purely academic, programmed
process. This, coupled with the fact that for almost a century parents have been sending their
children off to school every day, has had a deleterious effect upon parents’ understanding of
themselves as home-educators or home-disciplers. As a result, fundamental needs like
character, growth, morality, biblical virtue, and healthy relationship are not seen as part of the
education process."

Hebrews 5:13 - 14
For everyone who partakes only of milk is not
accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an
infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because
of practice have their senses trained to discern good
and evil.
