Our Future
It is now 2005, and we are in the process of forming our SBCHEA Advisory Council. The heart of our ministry, the "Deliberately Christian" online community, is blessed daily with new members! Please consider joining the ten-member, regional DC moderators, and the many families from across the nation, as we encourage each other and bear one another's burdens.Work on the first step of our SBCHEA College-Preparatory Program has begun. Our ministry believes that Kingdom Education is for children from birth through the college years. Many parents do not even consider a Christian college or university, because of the cost. What many homeschooling parents fail to realize, is that these schools view their children as top recruiting prospects, and can offer them many scholarship opportunities. The challenge for parents is that many schools, with "Christian" or "Baptist" in the title, do not educate from a biblical worldview! SBCHEA is establishing relationships with "Deliberately Christian" colleges and universities. We believe that Southern Baptist homeschooling families are not only training up a future generation political and civic leaders, but the future leaders of the church.
Classical Christian home education is having a tremendous impact on the Body of Christ! At the heart of a Christian-classical education is the study of theology, once referred to as the "Queen of Sciences". Sadly, theology is the most neglected science in Christian homes. Our ministry includes the words "Southern Baptist" for a reason. We believe a study of the rich Southern Baptist heritage, theologians, and doctrinal distinctives will play a crucial role in preparing these future leaders. In his endorsement of Dr. Tom Nettles' book, Teaching Truth, Training Hearts, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President, Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., states:
"The doctrinal atrophy of contemporary Christianity can be directly traced to our failure to teach the faith 'once for all delivered to the saints.' Baptists have a proud and rich heritage of catechisms, and Tom Nettles has performed a great service in making these historic teaching instruments available to a new generation. We must learn again what it means to teach our members and young ones the great truths of the Christian faith, lest another generation be abandoned."
